Families and survivors sit down protest Dhaka
Rana Plaza is the worst case, not the only case, of dangerous working conditions in the garment industry. Garment workers in Bangladesh need our support to improve their lives. The victims of Rana Plaza and their families have continued to fight for compensation, and for better working conditions, even in the face of violent repression.
None of us wanted to go to the factory that day. They forced us to go.
Conditions have got this bad because of the race-to-the-bottom pressures put on suppliers by fast-fashion brands like Benetton. They write the rules of the game, then deny responsibility for the results. As people living in the countries where Benetton make their profits we can help to hold them to account by hitting them where it hurts: their brand, their flagship stores, their reputation.
